Tea is a wonderful drink as it comes in a plethora of flavours and textures to go with your mood and what you are craving. As a huge tea lover, I am usually drawn to a traditional black tea, such as an Orange Pekoe or an Earl Grey. However, since my years in university, to control my caffeine intake and to do some good for myself, I got into herbal teas that have positive benefits for the body.
Over the years, I have learned about the following teas, what their benefits are, and in terms of taste, they are delicious and smooth:
Spearmint tea (in its pure form) is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and key nutrients. It helps digestive issues by relaxing the stomach muscles and reducing symptoms of nausea. Spearmint also helps to regulate hormones that cause acne and unwanted facial hair. You can drink spearmint tea hot or cold – it is refreshing both ways.
ACAI BERRY TEA
Acai Berry tea is rich in vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, omega fats and fiber. It acts as a weight loss aid by acting as a natural appetite suppressant. Acai Berry contains fatty acids that help to lower cholesterol, reduce glucose levels and dilate blood vessels. Its nutrients help to boost the immune system, cleanse the body of toxins, and helps to prevent cancer.
Vanilla tea is loaded with essential B-vitamins, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. It is soothing to your throat when you have a cough, helps to naturally calm pain of a toothache, and can effectively bring down any inflammation. Also an interesting tidbit – in ancient times, vanilla has been regarded as an aphrodisiac.
Chai tea is derives from an old Indian blend of herbs and spices that helps to preserve health and increase peace of mind. It has powerful antioxidants that help destroy free radicals, promotes positive digestion, and provides a richer flavour that helps one to replace that one morning cup of coffee or a second cup of coffee with a chai tea.
