Wave the Rainbow with Pride

World Pride Week 2014 has been hosted by my home city of Toronto this year and it has been amazing to see my city (also, in a way, my country) hold the very first World Pride week on North American soil with great enthusiasm and joy over the past seven days so far. Toronto has very vibrant and supportive LGBT communities, so it is fitting that this great Canadian city was selected for this special honour.

To get into the spirit just in time for the final parade on June 29th, aside from wearing colours of the rainbow, here are some of my favourite rainbow-themed pictures, items and even baked goods to give you ideas for showcasing rainbow pride…

Time to Stock up on the Sunglasses

With only three days into summer, the extended hours of sunshine is everyone’s favourite aspect of this season. Whether it is about getting more done in a day with extended hours of light or enjoying wearing shorts after a longer than usual winter, everyone is in summer mode! Even though the sun is around all 12 months of the year, some people are negligent and do not think about putting their sunglasses to good use until we hit June.

On top of making it a habit to protect your corneas from that bright glare, summer is a great time to check out different sunglasses and see what suits you and your face shape. Whether it is the stylish pair, the one with the polarized lenses or springing for ones that have your prescription built it, it is the key season to shop for those peeper protectors.

Many of us crave designer labels when it comes to sunglasses, but with bills, expenses and saving goals, buying a pair of $400 designer sunglasses doesn’t seem to fit in well with every day priorities. In order to keep some dollars in your wallet and get great style with your sunnies, here are some stylish options between $100 and $185:

Tory Burch Sunglasses

Tory Burch TY7004 Sunglasses in Brown, $179

Ralph by Ralph Lauren RA4004 Sunglasses in Gold and Brown, $149

Michael Kors

Michael Kors Olivia Sunglasses in Grey, $146

Armani Exchange AX2003 Sunglasses in Red Frames and Brown Lenses, $102

Ray Ban

Ray-Ban RB4203 51 Sunglasses in Black, $185

Friday Flick – L.A. Confidential

LA ConWhat:  L.A. Confidential

When:  1997

Who:  Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger and Danny DeVito

What’s the story:  L.A. Confidential tells the dark tale of the police force and its internal corruption while criminal activities and violence being investigated during Los Angeles’ glamorous times of the early 1950s.

Where:  Tinseltown, otherwise known as Los Angeles or L.A.

Why it’s amazing:  This movie is intriguing because the three main male leads (Spacey, Crowe and Pearce) are all cops that are mismatched in how they work and what their ambitions are, leading to many scenes that are brilliantly acted and draw the audience in. On top of that, Kim Basinger truly showcases her acting chops in this movie, proving she is not only sizzling hot but her days of playing Vicky Vale are far behind her.

What is bad about it:  Occasionally, there is too much going on the plot and the film is unable to make sense of it all. However, it does not affect the movie’s quality overall.

Wonderful scene in the movie:  Well it is more strong – Russell Crowe comes unannounced to a couples house to defend the wife who is abused by her husband on Christmas.

Fun Fact:  Director Curtis Hanson stated that Kim Basinger was the first and only choice for the role of Lynn Bracken.

Peach Beauty Pick – Epic Blend Premium Lip Balm

Lip balm is a pure staple in the majority of women’s purses and even in the bathrooms of BOTH women and men. Nothing is worse than chapped lips. Dry, rough and sore lips that appear aged and lined and are even harsh to kiss at times.

Healthy, moisturized and nourished lips are important. It helps you to express your words in a more presentable manner. It adds to those intimate and romantic kisses with a loved one. Also, a smoother lip makes for a more youthful appearance – don’t forget to think about how to treat your lips (whether it is preventative anti-aging treatments or smoothing line treatments) as you treat your face to a smoother and softer state.

My go-to lip balm over the past few months has been Epic Blend Premium Lip Balm. I will admit it; they are one of my PR clients but in order to give a full and honest review of this product on The Domestic Peach, I took the time to use this wonderful lip balm over the last six months and every time, this product does not disappoint – it is fantastic!

Epic Blend Premium Lip Balm is a beauty brand founded in Kelowna, British Columbia. This lip balm brand offers a smooth, silky swipe of nourishment to your lips and is packed with all natural, organic ingredients. Epic Blend uses top-shelf ingredients, like organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, and organic sunflower oil, while leaving out petroleum and synthetic preservatives. It is vegan, gluten-free, paraben-free and is not tested on animals.

First thing in the morning after I brush my teeth and wash my face, I put Epic on my lips. Also, I keep another Epic lip balm on my night stand and apply it right before bed. Since beginning my Epic regimen, my lips are always soft, smooth and are always hydrated. From the incredible moisture alone, the lines on my lips from wear, tear, and aging are softened in appearance. Aside from loving what it does for my lips, I love the fact that I am using an all natural product on my lips that is healthy and isn’t unsafe at all to ingest. The flavours are all wonderful, but my favourite Epic item is the More Moisture Unflavoured Balm.

Your lips deserve as much TLC as your skin, so if you are looking for a lip balm that packs in the hydration and nutrient, take Epic Blend Premium Lip Balm for a test run!
