Pretty in Pink

Mother Nature may be giving us a run for our money weather-wise during this first month of Spring, but don’t let that get you down. Surrounding yourself with beautiful, bright colours can definitely bring some sunshine to your home, office or day.

For this week, I decided to bring the spring to my house and my look with perfect pink hydrangeas and pink nails!

Friday Flick – Now and Then

What:  Now and Then Now and then

When:  1995

Who:  Christina Ricci, Rosie O’Donnell, Thora Birch, Melanie Griffith, Gaby Hoffmann, Demi Moore, Ashleigh Aston Moore, and Rita Wilson.

What’s the story:  In 1970, four best friends share a summer of  happy times, hard situations and create life-long memories.

Where:  Indiana.

Why it’s amazing:  This movie is pure nostalgia about growing up. The story begins by showing best friends Roberta, Teeny, Samantha and Chrissy as women in 1991 and where their friendships went, then back tracks to the summer of 1970, where they entered their teenage years. Through laughter and tears, hard family situations and adventure, all while raising money to purchase their joint tree house,  the four girls learn that no matter what, their bond will be there as their lives change.

What is bad about it:  It can be a bit sappy, but what teenage girly flick isn’t?

Wonderful scene in the movie:  When Samantha confronts Crazy Pete in the cemetery and he has an encouraging talk with her about not dwelling on the hard things in life and to focus on the good.

Fun Fact:  The original name of the movie was going to be “The Gaslight Addition”, which ended up being the name of the neighbourhood that the four girls and their families lived.

Lit Gift – A Childhood Classic Story Box Set

Even in the age of technology and requesting cool gadgets as presents for birthdays and other special occasions, there is still nothing like a good book!

I came across the cutest novel box set at Indigo Chapters, which encompassed all of my favourite childhood reads. The box set includes classics such as Black Beauty, Peter Pan, The Call of the Wild, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Secret Garden, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and Anne of Green Gables.

Packaged up in the colours of the rainbow, it is an adorable way to give the gift of literature to others.
