Peach Beauty Pick – The Kiss Silicone Styler Flat Iron

One physical attribute that I’ve been known for all my life is my long, thick, brown hair. I admit it. I have become obsessed with my hair over the years – in keeping my mane healthy, styling it in various ways and making sure it is always presentable before I leave the house.

As its core, my hair is thick and wavy, so one crucial tool I need for my hair styling is a good straightener. Over the years, I’ve tried many and only found a couple of brands that work well for straightening my hair in minimal time and leave my hair looking shiny and feeling soft as silk.

At BlogHer last month, I was introduced to hair styling products manufactured by Kiss – the company that distributes chic and trendy nail products. While talking to one of their product reps, I learned all about their straightener – the Silicone Styler Flat Iron.

The Silicone Styler Flat Iron is a 1 inch iron is different from your typical iron. It uses this unique silicone heat protection technology to smooth and straighten the hair. Firstly, it minimizes heat damage with silicone bars that are built into the iron plates. I loved it because it gripped my hair with ease and provided a smoother slide down to straighten each section. Secondly, it locks in the moisture. After running it through each section, my hair was shiny and did not need to go through the iron again.

I tested it out yesterday and really enjoyed it! For my first time using this iron, I went for a mainly straight style with some wave action in the front.

Another thing that is wonderful about this straightener is that it is ONLY $25!

Yes, I am guilty of spending almost $200 on hair straighteners in the past, so this is certainly refreshing and helpful for keeping up my pretty hair without the harsh cost.

All I can say is that it is a keeper!

A Domestic Recipe – Easy Chicken Meat Sauce with Pasta

One of the most requested meals that my mom gets from me on a regular basis is her famous meat sauce paired with pasta. Ever since I was little, I’ve always had a craving for this hearty meal. Since I’ve enjoyed this dish for years, I thought I’d share my mom’s recipe with you to try! It is not only mouth-watering, it is extremely simple to make!

2 lbs of Lean Ground Chicken
1 Jar of Marinara Sauce (Either a smooth marinara or one with veggies in it)
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Vegetable Oil
Pasta of choice (I usually go with penne or spaghetti)

1) Coat the bottom of a pot with vegetable oil and heat up the pot on the oven’s element.

2) Put the ground chicken into the pot and cook through until it is browned.

3) Slowly mix the garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt and pepper in with the ground chicken. Add more until it tastes to your liking.

4) Pour the entire jar of marinara sauce into the pot and mix it in with the meat until it is fully blended together.

5) Cover and simmer the sauce for 40 minutes. Stir occasionally as it simmers.

6) Add more garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt and pepper to the meat sauce as needed until it tastes to your liking.

7) Once the sauce is tasting to perfection, keep it covered and warmed, then cook up penne or spaghetti al dante (usually takes around 8 minutes)

8) Serve the meat sauce over the pasta, paired with a piece of garlic toast and a light sprinkling of parmesan cheese over top.

Stripes are the new black

Even though it is still summer, I can’t help but start thinking about the upcoming fall season and how to convert my wardrobe back into my warm fashionable shield from the colder temperatures. As a natural shopping fanatic, I’ve started to slowly purchase pieces to incorporate into my fall fashions while respecting my budget.

In my fall fashion mission, I’ve noticed something – stripes are still huge! They were already big in the spring and the summer, but this trend seems to be sticking with us through autumn.

To stay in style without spending a fortune, I would recommend hitting up The Gap! I came across this adorable blazer at The Gap, which is a light grey with an asymmetrical white stripe pattern. I love it because it is not black, it is neutral so it can match with a lot of things, it is under $80 and it is made out of material that feels like a thinner version of a sweatshirt. Comfy, will not wrinkle and can match with even the brightest colours in my closet… now, that is great!
