Friday Flick – When Harry Met Sally

What:  When Harry Met Sally when-harry-met-sally-movie-poster-1989-1020470291

When:  1989

Who:  Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby

What’s the story:  In 1977, Harry Burns and Sally Albright meet right after graduation from college and share a car ride, moving from Chicago to New York, where they argue about whether men and women can just be friends. 10 years later in New York, Harry and Sally meet again and develop a close friendship and still ask this same question about how men and women can be platonic.

Where:  New York City

Why it’s amazing:  Due to its amazing plot writing, non-stop laughing comedy, and witty banter, When Harry Met Sally is deemed “one of Hollywood’s very best in romantic comedies.” The intelligent script, combined with talented actors, makes for a rom-com that keeps you engaged and laughing throughout the duration of the film.

What is bad about it:  The rarity of two sets of best friends finding love. It is bad because how often does that actually happen? It is a little too perfect.

Wonderful scene in the movie:  The iconic scene that everyone refers too when they talk about When Harry Met Sally… the one where Harry and Sally are taking about men and women being intimate and Sally faking…(just watch, you will get it!)

Fun Fact: The segments of married couples telling the stories of how they met are real stories that Rob Reiner collected for the film. Actors relate the stories.

A Domestic Recipe – Hearty Turkey Chili

Lately, I have been all about making meals that are quick to create and can last for a couple of meals as cooking every night is not always an option. On top of that, I have been exploring recipes that focus on the leaner proteins, such as chicken and turkey. Over the weekend, it got cold out and all of a sudden, I got the craving for some sort of comfort food that is warm and filling. Instantly, I thought of a meal that would be perfect for this craving – CHILI!

After searching around online, I found an amazing recipe for Hearty Turkey Chili on I headed directly to the grocery store, stocked up on ingredients, and after 10 minutes of prep time and simple stove top cooking for 45 minutes, it was done and reading to serve. Delicious!

Here’s to a new month… and a new chapter

After taking two months away from The Domestic Peach, I am back in action with new posts and new insights to share with you all! The last two months have brought on a lot of change for me. I am sorry that I left my readers (and others in my life) at the waist side, but I needed some time to get some things in order and swim, not sink. I have been busy settling into my new apartment in the midtown area of Toronto with my man, I started a new job (a dream job, I may add) at the end of September and focusing on learning and leading as much as possible in my role – a position I am so thrilled to have earned and am so grateful to have, putting the finishing touches on my wedding (which is just under three weeks away), and welcoming the fall season with open arms. I am starting to feel less anxious, more calm, and looking forward to the future. As much as it may be dark when I wake every morning for work, I see the lights!
